No Mr Bond, I expect you to die.

Seen those rabaconda's in action, makes an utterly miserable task mildly tolerable.

Indeed!
That's an amazing contraption.....for gods sake don't tell people you have it, or you'll be doing Tyres from now to the afterlife.
Up there with telling your motorcycling friends that fork seals are an easy fix.

This. Like telling people you have a van, suddenly you're their best friend.

Pretty much why you lot are allowed to know but nobody else!
I think things like Rabaconda are the gold standard because they are just cheap enough that they are accessible. This TMT is the step well above that, but you get punched in the soft area financially.
The amazing thing about the TMT is that everything on it is there for a reason. The adjustment for rim size, bit to hold the tyre levers etc…
Main reason I got it was to eliminate the need for the third hand. Using the foot pedal to operate the bead breaker is a masterstroke. Leaves two hands to wrestle with the tyre.
I need to order some new tyres for the Sherco trials as well as for the DR350, so we’ll see how much I enjoy it after 4 more tyres in the coming weeks.

Does it do balancing?
Looks good as well as the way it collapses for storage.
-
• #25060
No balancing, it’s made for dirt wheels, and I doubt anyone who rides dirt wastes time with wheel weights.
Coupled with a separate balance stand you could cover everything though.
-
• #25061
I'd balance wheels, under my impression that balanced wheels are are kinder on wheels bearings and suspension bits.
Thought dirt tyres have markings for the valve position to help gain balance.
-
• #25062
I’m not saying don’t balance wheels, but I see no benefit on green lanes.
-
• #25063
I know people that don't balance spoked road bike wheels.
I'm just talking.
Is that set up able to do road bike tyres?
-
• #25064
Off road, you run bead locks, which kind of makes balancing a waste of time.
-
• #25065
Just chatting, as I never did any real off roading so never needed bead locks.
-
• #25066
So. If you were doing significant road miles or consistent speeds over 50mph then a balanced wheel is useful on a dirt bike. It stops some of the headshake and wobble. When you’re running massively aggressive tyres they won’t perform well on the road anyway. Rimlocks as above will ruin your chances of balancing a wheel.
Rabaconda recently released a machine that looks aimed more toward cast wheels instead of spoked ones.
You could ask TMT directly if they’ve ever changed road tyres on their machine, they’ll probably tell you what I keep saying - this is for dirt wheels.

Spunked some money on MT43's for the Sherco, and Trackers for the DR350.
It was long overdue. Next week will be fun times in the shed...

• #25069
Yea this’ll be my….3rd? set of Trackers. I was running the IRC 50/50’s off a CRF all last year because they were (free) good to use while suffering with ear problems and mostly on-road.

Never balanced a MX bike tyre ever.

Just got back from Fry’s Bottom woods. Amazing location. Shame I was full of fear and we started the day off wrong - mate threw us into steep downhills before I had a chance to warm up, cue dropped bike and tweaked wrist on a slope that the boots slid down.
Amazing location for trials riding. I hope the planning permission lets them open more often.

Hey folks,
I have a 1200km off road tour of Morocco coming up in May, and I need to get my hands on some motorcross kit. Boots, Knee pads, Chest Guard.
Does anyone have an abundance of old kit they'd loan out for a week? boots around size 43, chest size S-M.
If not, I'll hit FB marketplace and hope to pick up some cheap bits.

Maybe got some bits I can sell cheap enough you could keep

1200km off road tour of Morocco
Details?
Kauritmoto TMT 6 or something. It’s very expensive and nothing like the ABBA, and still quite far removed from the Rabaconda.
It’s designed for mousse and tube tyres and I suppose you could do tubeless as well.
Definitely a bells and whistles tool but basically I mounted a tyre with only one tyre lever and zero sweating. Quite a high price for the privilege but it was a gift to myself because of some work stuff.
