You're making me very much regret not picking this frame up!
I also have that feeling.

Think you were right although the seat tube looks pretty relaxed?

I think it's looking great.
I've wanted a pair of compact 40cm - 38cm swept back bars (and was hoping someone would chip in with a potential solution) I found the wide ones a false economy.
That seattube angle will push those peddle through with force -

You sprint out of the saddle right :)

That looks right

Bit of progress - black cloth bar tape to put on after cables, chain etc.

Finally got this out for a quick ride.
Feels quite sprightly especially with a tail wind! I’m not used to it being longer than my usual fit , time will tell whether i get aches/pains or if i get used to it.
Shoulders and neck feel fine at the mo and that’s where it usually hurts
Leg length feels ok but i couldn’t put the saddle any higher.
Bars and stem are lovely.Freewheel is glitchy as anything and tries to chuck off the chain when not pedalling.
Overall though quite a nice ride!

That looks great. As soon as you've ironed out the nigggles (freewheel etc) I think you'll have a keeper with that

Longer ride this morning resulting in a train ride home!
I cycled up to the westbury White Horse - luckily bought 2 x inner tubes on the way as when I was going downhill the was a rapid loss of air from the back wheel .. caused by a misaligned brake pad which cut the tyre on the sidewall. Luckily I had an Elastoplast plaster in my wallet which stopped the new tube popping out as I rode to the station where it started bulging again.
I let the air out and hobbled up the hill home!
Apart from that was a great ride and am tweaking my position

F and F for sale for in the classifieds as found an Argos with a shorter TT

I think the worn sidewall with misaligned brake problem is super easy with the Jack Browns, quite thin casing tbh
-
• #42
Yeah, jack browns are a cunt. Super supple but punctures not worth it.
@johnnettles2 lush frame, GLWS. Westbury WH tough? I can barely get up it in a Transit Connect

I once memorably flatted four times on one ride on JB greens, once to a dodgy tube, twice to damaged tire beads and finally to that sidewall wear
-
• #44
The slows can be so fine it's hard to find the puncture. Not least on Charing ❌ Rd at at rush hour in a thunder storm. Nice, but a bit etc

I was zig zagging a bit up the hill but luckily there wasn’t much traffic.
The tyres I had on were a new set of challenge Strada 700 x 30 but felt narrower than Paris roubaixs at 700 x 27c…
Frame is heading to London for a taller chap! -

If I had the build kit and also did not own my Stayer (essentially, if this were 2022 instead….) I’d have bought it myself! Crackin’ frame and build.

Just picked up the Argos frameset that will replace this one - looks very nice indeed.
Got some details from Argos cycles that it was built in 1988 then brought back in many years later for a repaint and changing the spec including stainless dropouts -
