Sorry I missed this, but really appreciate the input mate, thank you 🙏🏻
Hope your move east has gone well?
Any other views on the reality of the weather in late may, and.how that might vary by location, massively appreciated. Cheers

My pleasure, Thailand is amazing. I can't imagine it being disappointing even if it rained constantly, but who knows.
Hope your move east has gone well?
Yeahh, ups and downs. I have quite a bit of a routine now between work and home life. Also making a few new friends so I feel like I'm beginning to integrate.
Saying that, there has been a lot of talk at home about moving to Thailand.

Any recommendations for Chiang Mai from the hive mind? Got a little over a week around Phuket as well if anyone has experience.

I’m giving this thread a bump as I’ll be cycling in Thailand soon.
My partner and me are touring im Vietnam right now, heading through Laos and hoping to be in Thailand to watch some racing at the tour of Thailand at the beginning of April, near Phitsanulok.Does anyone have any tips, route recommendations etc?

Mae Hong Son loop is super hilly but very nice if you like hills! Lanna kingdom route on bikepacking.com is lovely and also very hilly. South of Bangkok down to Phuket, cross the isthmus at Chumphon or thereabouts and go down the west coast for quieter roads. Lots of good cycle paths here too. So much good food everywhere, enjoy!!

Thank you 🙏
There's also a framebuilder whose workshop I wanted to visit in Bangkok but any chance I got he was in the workshop. You'll find him with a Google search and when I called his English was great and he was up for visits.
Only other shop I can think of was the Thailand touring bike shop along one of the canals. It's tiny but the staff are friendly and there were a few nice/quirky touring bikes hung up around the place. Gave me a ton of stickers to take home :)
Edit: Think it's Bok Bok
I'm sort of gutted that I didn't do a proper write up in here when I arrived back to London but Covid had caused a bit of a panic on the return journey (Via Shanghai) and I never got on top of it.
Lots of good coffee in Chiang Mai also
