  • Cobblemonster rides again!
    Sunday 7 April 2024

After a spirited return in 2022 & 2023, your favourite bone-shaking cobbles and lungbusting climbs are back, again! If you would like to take part just fill in the online form via link below.

Sunday 7 April, from 9am at Herne Hill Velodrome

    • Ride all your favourite bone-shaking cobbles & lung-busting climbs
    • Finish with a flying lap at HHV and join us for the men's Paris-Roubaix
    • All Bikes Welcome!

    RSVP using our handy g-form!

    New start location and time!
We are thrilled to announce that our event partners Brixton Cycles Co-operative and Herne Hill Velodrome are supporting Cobblemonster once again!

We have a new start point for 2024 at Herne Hill Velodrome; with rolling departs from 9-11am, taking in cobbles and bergs all over central*, East, and South London, finishing with a lap of the iconic HHV**, where you can watch Paris-Roubaix live on the big screen and enjoy our raffle with amazing star prizes!!!

As with previous editions, we are trying to raise awareness and cash for Evelina London Children's Hospital. Taking part is free but we are encouraging a donation of £15 via our Just Giving portal.

It really helps us loads if you can donate before the event (don't forget to check the gift aid option!) as it massively speeds up our admin on the day and means the charity receives gift aid. You are very welcome to give us cash on the day if you prefer, but this isn't eligible for gift aid.

    Donate here via Just Giving

We really hope you will sign up and we see as many of you as possible at Herne Hill Velodrome on Sunday 7 April.

    Team Cobblemonster
    info@cobblemonster.com

*We will publish details of the route closer to the event, but it will feel familiar to returning riders, even if TfL have removed some of the cobbles recently

**In true Paris-Roubaix style, riders finishing the event between 13:30-15:30 will be able to take a lap of South London's most famous velodrome, just like Bradley Wiggins, Elinor Barker, Fred Wright, Laura Kenny, Russell Williams, and more!

  • Shakedown ride for the Crux? Nah, more likely a shake apart ride for the Focus CX thing. How many years has it been since I rode London's Famous London's Famous cobbles?

Wow, it was 14 years ago when it was TLC - The London Classic

  • You've missed some glorious days. This is a calendar highlight.

    Excited!

  • Website now updated: https://cobblemonster.com/

  • Partner's birthday often around this time of year so I'm usually otherwise engaged. In fact I've just noticed this year I'm out at a gig the night before so god knows what state I'll be in the day after.

  • Not off to see Underworld at Ally Pally on the Saturday are you?

Cos that's what I'm doing the night before and that's guaranteed to be messy, but come rain or shine I'll be rattling out the toxins on the cobbles.

And as its always great weather for this, there's no better recovery, guaranteed to want a beer by the end;)

  • Not off to see Underworld at Ally Pally on the Saturday are you?

As a matter of fact I am :)

I used to go out all night and then ride all day the next day with no hearing left and I'm just getting too old for that shit. But I don't have any birthday plans locked in yet with the missus and my mate is a lightweight so who knows, I could end up being fresh as a daisy Sunday morning :)

  • Excellent, I'm really looking forward to Underworld, it's going to be great. Just got to try and not dance too hard, I need to think lightweight and not caner..... never gunna happen....so if you're all fresh faced on sunday you'll be 4 beers deep by the time I finish so that may equalise things a bit :)

  • Hope everyone is doing well in view of Dave signing up above I'm moving him to the top of the list out of respect peace and love

  • Unfortunately dropping out, as managed to fit together a week long's escapade in Wales and of course I had to pick specific trains otherwise it would cost me a kidney to get me and my bike to Swansea

  • @JAH-tim you at the top of that hill you posted
    Cobblemonster ride 2022-04-10 (269)r

  • Number 10 is my lucky number, I once won a bottle of Pomagne at a Muswell Hill PRIMARY SCHOOL fair tombola, aged about 12. Ah the 80s was grand (for alcoholism among children)

  • See you all on Sunday, I will be manning the queries desk. I won't have a panda costume on.

  • Nice one. Looking forward to it.
I'm bringing some friends for their debut. So I'm playing road captain for the development team.

  • Mrs Underuser and I are riding, yesterday was spent sorting out road bikes that haven’t been used for nearly a year and I’ve got to re-tape my bars this afternoon.
If you see an old bloke blowing out his arse up the hills on a Roberts that’ll be me.

  • We did the signs today. A longer route plus some unexpected diversions (they're filming Slow Horses near Barbican) meant we unexpectedly ran out of signs...!

So when you get to the foot of Canonbie, you can a) sack the climb off and follow the signs back to HHV b) do it from memory/the gpx file and tackle Canonbie / Eliot Bank / Wells Park Road before riding back from Crystal Palace to HHV.

We will remind people of this when they arrive at sign-on (from 9am).

    The route is here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45861116

  • There are always people who think they're on the Gobblemonster, easy mistake to make.
