I think by now I have learned more in this thread than in school.
So do I get this right - dogs are able to see / detect the degradation of chlorophyll with their UV vision capabilities because they're too dumb to see proper yellow to know the banana is ripe?
I'm not sure that a dog does have UV capabilities in their vision. The colours in your diagram suggest that that a dog's UV capabilities are not significantly different to those of a human.
Our dog doesn’t care if a banana is ripe or not. If you leave one unattended and within her reach it will be eaten. Also works for all other food types as well as hats, gloves and all small items.
