My kids have two options. Take the money I've saved and leave, or pay rent and I keep the savings.

One alternative is downsizing so they don't have anywhere to stay. Also frees up another chunk of cash for retirement.

I'm 100% downsizing when kids have all turned 18. The thought of freeing up a load of money, and being able to move to a much nicer place in a nicer area (just smaller). Potentially be able to afford a much bigger garden, depending how I'm doing at that stage. Dreamy!
