I have a 2020 13inch MBP (4x Thunderbolt ports) that has been sat unused for a while as i got a newer M1 MPB for work last year. May as well shift it as its just not going to be used and is only going to get less valuable.
Rough idea of what its worth? any recommendations on where to sell other than eBay?
Has retina screen and touch bar thingy. 1TB HD.

Interested, to replace my wife’s knackered MacBook.
Not much help, but let me know how much you’d accept for it…

Think I paid about £1.6k for mine, which is the same model but with a 512gb HD
Backmarket have a refurbed one for £850, link below
https://www.backmarket.co.uk/en-gb/p/macbook-pro-retina-16-inch-2019-core-i7-32gb-ssd-512-gb-qwerty/fb9d2064-a373-4564-87cc-831c48e276d3#l=10&scroll=falseSo somewhere between those two prices depending on how much you want to get for it. Or less than the backmarket price for a quick sale..

Just checked 2nd hand prices on my 16 MBP M1. Seems like I can do a straight swap to the M3 air without losing money. Geekbench says they compare pretty much like for like when it comes to performance.
Tempting.
Edit. Would be 16gb ram instead of 32....

Any owners/users able to comment on how much difference there is between an M2 and M3 Macbook pro?
I’ve done a fair share of googling and if anything I’m less clear on how much of a difference there is haha.
My main use would be music production, and I’m thinking 1tb storage and 32gb ram or the equivalent unified memory - hoping for some future proofing.
I’m thinking an M3 would put me right up to date, but I could save like 1k (!) with an M2 on BackMarket.
I’ve read there’s less performance cores on an M3 than M2, and the upgrades might actually not be geared towards music production, but some of it does go over my head.
Overall want the best machine.
Any thoughts?

word was it's more about max Vs pro less so M2 Vs M3 (id prefer to be saying how I know FA)

Can't help thinking the gains working out the odds at Cheltenham will be more profitable, and its once a year

Depends which flavour you’re considering.
Top tier of M3 Max is significantly better in every respect than maxed-out M2 Max.
M3 Pro is almost the same as M2 Pro.

advice needed pls; I have this macbook pro, its just under 80% batt capacity, I have pretty much used it daily since buying new 5 years ago. Its my only laptop. Musicmagpie is quoting £304 for this. Its working fine for what I need it for, has it already hit rock bottom price or should I sell and upgrade?

If I were you, it would be a question of a- does it do what I need it to do and b- does it get the most current OS/security updates. You’ve said it does what you need it to, and a 2018 MacBook Pro should run latest macOS Sonoma so b is ticked too. I’d hang onto it. It might not get the next version of macOS and if not, it will get security updates for a while longer. I’d look to sell it around then and buy whatever M series MacBook I could afford.

perfect thank you!

I have the same one, still going tho' it has had a couple of weird glitches that make me think the motherboard is probably not long for this world. It occasionally struggles with music production stuff these days so an upgrade will be coming before the new tax year. So much power. 💸

Its working fine for what I need it for
Then why sell/upgrade? Especially when Opencore Legacy Patcher exists?

It might not get the next version of macOS
It will ;)

The only reason I think for changing would be bc the lack of battery makes it a pain. Can't see that really being an issue so as above.
-
• #21121
I'm in the same situation and the shit battery is a real pain. Have hovered on the buy now button for an m2 / m3 but the cost of getting one with equiv. solid state storage is wild.

• #21122
The new costs of MacBooks is fuckin outrageous and I need to upgrade in the not to distant future too.

Quite a few refurbed M1s /M2s on eBay that are slightly less wallet crushing but yes - what a time to be alive etc.

• #21124
Do you need that much? I’m a file hoarder but 512gb works well, rest is offloaded to dropbox

Wondering if I can pull the SSD from my Intel and smoosh it in a 256gb storage M2.
Oof. That truly sucks.
Re the remarkable, do you like it? Use it a lot? I’m tempted
