Madness. I wouldn't ride that on anything less than...

Oh I was wearing a full-face though.

I had 38s in there over summer! The sensible thing to do is probably keep it for a while, ride it some more (road and bridleways) and see if I still love it or not.

And also identify what you think you'd find in a gravel bike that would bring more joy than that

I think I'm just less interested in going fast/ getting fit than I used to be (not that I've ever been fast or fit). The appeal of cycling lately is exploring and messing about. There's only so much variety in the lanes within a couple of hours of my house and I don't have a huge amount of free time to get out all day to go further afield and see new things. My thoughts process is that mixing up the style of riding I do might help me experience new things!

Buy hardtail. Do adventchaz

Totally get it, sounds like your current bike should be more than capable to provide that in the short term
-
• #30186
Yeah, you're right. Just fantasising about spending money I don't have I think.

Save spare money for components! Going through one set of brake pads per ride in current conditions, not to mention the drivetrain..

Was your freehub seal loose, or did you ride through Connaught Water?
-
• #30189
Seal was new a year ago, not loose and with a lick of grease at the back to better seal.. should probably stop riding through Connaught Water

Chestnut Avenue? I like that one. Not done it since getting a chonky tyre bike, should be fun
-
• #30191
It's that early morning sfab. You should try riding later in the day ;-)

• #30192
Correct, I quite enjoy routing that way if people's bikes are too shiny.

Hopefully this works……

This is either very little travel or a lot of sag

100mm of OTB prevention perhaps? Based on the fistful of front lever going on.
-
• #30196
I don't think the brake is being pulled, there would be a gap between the silver top and the rubber hood on the lever, he went past at normal speed behind a group.

Straight/loose fingers, no braking. Just a shitty fork or a poorly setup fork?
-
• #30198
5mm travel. It's all you really need

With pedal strike on tarmac?
26c on my road bike in Kent through this is fine
