    Seems written to match a narrative given it includes ages 16-64 and successive governments have pushed young people to stay in education to 21 which is about 1/8th of the age range.

  • I caught the tail end of this story on R4.

    The figures for sub 24(?) yo are much more extreme, and more data should come out next week to allow futher analysis on why the figs for the youngest are so much higher.

  • 16-64

    16-21, students
    50-64, those fortunate enough to be retired (who works when there's no need?)

    And then of course you have people working who are not PAYE and also don't let the taxman know that they're working.
