This probably isn’t a ‘Boeing’ thing, it sounds like clear air turbulence. Could happen to any aircraft.

What is going on with Boeing these days? First the door plug incident, now a 787 dropping in the air unexpectedly and hard enough to smash unsecured passengers into the ceiling (not roof).
