  • So I have stupidly managed to drop a I think stainless steel washer down the drawer of my washing machine where the detergent and water goes.

I am a bit worried that the above washer might not be stainless steel and not looking forward to get rust stains on my white sheets or worse.

Tried to get it out with magnets on a string which didn't work because the channel becomes ferrous quite soon after the plastic bit and the magnets stuck very early.

Tried working down some hose to suck it out with help of my trusty vacuum but that also didn't work because the channel bends in mysterious ways.

I have a sneaking suspicion that just doing a wash and then fishing it out of the accessible filter won't work because that's not a place where stuff that doesn't belong there is supposed to end up. Although I have found socks in there which I still not really can technically comprehend.

    What to do hive mind?!
    A) just do a wash, it'll end up in the filter
    B) flip over washing machine and shake, it'll drop out
    C) open up washing machine and get down in its guts to retrieve the ring as you would with a human devouring anaconda
    D) OTHER: ....

Many thanks in advance, I'm running low on fresh panties!

  • I'd like to say do a wash, but be ready to hit the stop button if you hear grinding crushing breaking noises. Take the machine apart is your best option. I'm sure there's lots of stuff on the internet to show you how to do it.

  • I fished out out a bra under wire that got stuck between the drum and the plastic drum outer by removing the back and taking out the heating coil which left a big enough access hole to go fishing. Wasn't very near the bottom so you might also need to turn the machine it's side if you try that method.
