• Diesel don't need power to run so I'm guessing petrol

This is only true if it doesn't have an electric fuel pump, electronic fuel injection or an electric fuel cutoff solenoid. A T4 is modern enough I'd expect one to have some or all of those.

the leisure battery is not set up to power the main battery in an emergency. It should be.

They usually aren't, because you can just use a jump lead in an emergency. Having it happen automatically whenever the main battery is low would just mean two flat batteries.

  • T4 is a mechanical pump, well some are later ones may not be, or if engine swapped.

Having quote issues on the phone, on older conversations depends on location of batteries and jump lead length. But nower days with jumper packs small not sure there is a need. In past builds I'd run cables between the batteries as had this issue once. Also had separate charge points so I could charge batteries externally via generator by switching terminals to protect any electronics. Learnt that the hard way.

The idea was a physical link between the batteries that you remove when not needed.
