Agree. Though I do believe that a) Fury grossly underestimated Ngannou and b) he didn't look his usual self.

Maybe you’re right, but it was a fat and unmotivated Fury. Which is Fury I guess.
AJ calling for him now, which is the fight I’ve wanted to see for a long time.
AJ has been gunshy and hesitant for so long, it’s great to see him get one back (even if I don’t particularly like him lol).

Yeah for sure, I just dont know if it'll happen. I dont even think Usyk will happen! He and his family are a pure joke and dont get me started on his brother.

Quote from fury sums it up "I had a shit performance against Ngannou. I’ve never said anything different. Joshua knocked him out and that’s what a boxer should’ve done.”

This all reflects really well on Ben Davidson. I was impressed with him when coaching fury and thought he was great for Wood, looks like he's got AJ exactly where he needs to be with clarity of messaging and tactics. So good to see! Really hope fury usyk resolves quickly, ideally without rematch but if they do go with that only one and inside 6 months.

Fury doesn't punch. He slaps.
He uses evasion and propping to wear opponents down.
He would never KO Ngannou.

Watched the Inoue v Nery fight earlier. Cracking fight.

Looking forward to Fury Usyk.

• #1967
I was surprised Bellew made Usyk out right favourite. It is not like Fury is a mug technically, and the size and weight advantage surely makes the fight at least evens? Most bookies seem to have Tyson as marginal favourite.
-
• #1968
Well it's gonna be a points marathon.
If Fury can lean on him u never know.
-
• #1969
We know you don't rate Fury. But he did knockout Wilder twice, who most people agree has a good chin.
-
• #1970
I mean, Bellew is rather self-interested in hyping Usyk as he ended his career! I think looking at Fury's last performance you can easily go down the road of thinking Usyk has the upper hand - not that Usyk himself looked all that impressive against Dubois although his last few rounds were decent. It's an intriguing fight, definitely 4 years too late and hard to argue either are that close to their peak. Fear it will be 'one for the purists' rather than anything explosive or exciting, but hope it opens up a bit....

I would love to see Tyson bully and stop Usyk, but I think it is gonna be a contentious points decision one way or another.
-
• #1972
Absolutely agree that it is years too late. At one point there was hype around AJ, Wilder, Fury being years of great match ups to come.
-
• #1973
The Wilder vs Fury trilogy was decent.
Usyk only became a credible heavyweight challenger in 2021, so if anything I am surprised they have managed to get this on so quickly!

Tyson has some real miles on him now. He hasn't looked great in his last few, he's responding poorly when put under pressure. Constant ballooning up and down takes its toll, just ask Ricky Hatton. He's used to being more mobile than opponents since Steve Cunningham, a fight he says was his hardest. And Cunningham is nowhere near the caliber of Usyk. Saying that he always comes in fully prepped for the 'big' fights, still a chance he doesn't show up. Usyk is always, always on form.
Lots of reasons why Fury could completely bottle it, not many why Usyk isn't up to the job.
Edit: all of this means Fury becomes truly legendary in my eyes if he just batters Usyk.

Yeah, the result I want is Fury to beat Usyk so comprehensively that the Saudi's have no interest in the rematch, pay Usyk step-aside money and we get Fury v AJ with both in decent form....
Not sure I agree with this trail of thought. I find it hard to imagine any other serious champion struggling as badly as Fury did against a first timer…? Not adapting or not having something they know they can fall back on?
