quartz plays by different rules - they’re basically indestructible
Well I had a quartz Alpina that I fell off my bike on and it shattered.

These look quite special, well done everyone involved.
I won’t be buying one at that price though, damn. -

I got a formula 1 (the alarm version) as a gift. It's got a really comforting, heavy weight to it, but it's just that bit too shiny. Still wear it occasionally but the 'my first (swiss) watch' thing kind of rings true. Quite a few blogs talk about the formula 1 as the gateway to other watches and it was kind of that for me.
I always had my eye on a few different things, like 'gonna get a panerai when X happens' etc and then I got this shiny tag and was like ok thats nice but not what I would have chosen, but hey its nice and what a great gift. So I wore it and liked it, and thought maybe I should stop looking at watches from afar so much and actually just make a call on getting one that i would choose.
So I think what it did for me was say to me 'okay now go for that one...which you actually want', instead of it just being on a list of things to do (at some indeterminate point).

My SARB is running a bit slow - never been serviced since I bought it in 2017. Is Alsal still thr forum go-to for London based repairs etc?

TAG's were seemingly issued to all College boys in Winchester, so if you were 13, called Hugo and your dad worked in the city that was what was on your wrist.
So, rightly or wrongly I always think of them as childrens watches, worn by cunts.

They seemed to lean extremely heavily into a certain aesthetic that was super cool in tbe 90s. Terminator/industrial vibes. (Hublot in a similar boat but a step up in $$$).
I think a lot of Tag’s other stuff is pretty nice, but it’s not what comes to mind first when I think of the brand.

Hahah "my first swiss" rings true then. That's a damning image you paint. Might be enough to put me off entirely.

MRG casioak on the way. I’m not impressed, it’s lost the digital screen and the iconic markers.

Yeah, not into that. I don’t really vibe with the MR-G stuff in general though.

Maybe you should have a few to ease the pain!

I finished this one yesterday to celebrate, was on antibiotics till th me day before so perfect timing.
In general though I’ve minimized drinking to barely anything these days.

The second one. Last week he popped in to Rolex just to see if they had anything and ended up buying 2 gold Yacht Masters and one of them is rank.

Madness. How the other half etc etc....
Ah yeah, I should have qualified that I meant automatic watches, quartz plays by different rules - they’re basically indestructible :)
This is worrying though, and not acceptable in modern society
