How have you got the cables routed overall? I did this and although I remember it being very very difficult to get the cables through I don't remember the shifting being affected (altho it was a long time ago).
You can see in this photo but the bends aren't really any tighter than an externally routed bar.

Hi. The mechanic seems to think it’s sorted but I’ll find out this morning…

Fingers crossed. Maybe he just got frustrated trying to sort the routing, similar to how I did when I tried it (:
I just saw your other thread, really nice frame and the bars suit it well I think. -

Completely my experience too - think it took me about an hour per cable. Your mechanic has patience (or some magical technique)!
I would say that I didn't even ride the Integralters for long on the bike as it put the hoods much lower down than I preferred. Did look great though.

Well I went out this morning and all seems well apart from the headset and bars not been tightened fully or I have a problem and they’re working themselves loose…
Back it goes to the mechanic… -

Easy fix with an allen key no?
-

The bars yes, but the top bolt just keeps spinning now. Won’t tighten completely but won’t come out either. Either been overtightened and got cross threaded or the carbon steerer has cracked…
-

Well, got the spinning cap off and the star nut appears not to be fully inserted in the steerer tube, hence the spinning. Do I just whack it in a few mm or get it done properly to a set distance?

I’m beginning to think maybe it’s drawn itself out when it’s been tightened because I got a new cap which doesn’t sit completely flat as it’s for a 1 1/8 tube and not the 1” that I’ve got. Sound plausible or should it be further in the tube so it wouldn’t happen anyway?
-
• #11
If that’s a carbon steerer you want to get yourself a carbon compression/expander bung/plug surely?
-
• #12
That’s what was in it. I’m no mechanic.
-
• #13
That shouldn’t have been in it. I’d suggest that you get it removed (a fun challenge) and sort a bung so that the steerer is supported internally from the clamping force of the stem.
Happy to be told I’m wrong by the Lfgss massive, but that’s what I’d do.

Happy to be told I’m wrong…
I’d quite agree with you. Defo get the star nut in the sea>>>>
-
• #15
Well. The mechanic has told me to either knock it in 10mm carefully or try and remove it carefully… I knocked it back in but I’m convinced it’s drawing itself out again as I tighten it up so I’m having to keep tightening the bars. I’ve now ordered a 1” carbon expander bung from Cinelli…

Good job I’ve got plenty of drill bits.

I hope it works out. You've got the colour balance just right. The bike looks terrific.
-
• #18
Thanks. All I want is a bike that’s safe to ride. I can’t believe some of the mechanics attitudes out here in Italy.
-
• #19
Looking good! Just needs the bar tape sorting.
-
• #20
I assume you mean the tightness of it and not the colour… it’s on my list
-
• #21
Yeah the colour looks great! Just looks a bit like the integralter's socks have slipped down and bunched up, haha.

Is it the macho 'who needs brakes' attitude? You might enjoy this video I found when I went down an Integralter rabbit hole after reading your other thread. It's the second one down https://veloaficionado.com/blog/cipollini-rb-1000-carbon-road-bike It's fairly normal at first but after a while I was scratching my head wondering why he's not dead.
He's also buffed up his macho credentials by being sentenced to 3 years for wife beating. https://www.corriere.it/cronache/22_ottobre_17/lesioni-minacce-all-ex-moglie-mario-cipollini-condannato-tre-anni-5470bf1a-4e33-11ed-bc0e-7c09bbf42712.shtml

I’ve heard about the sentence. He’s still out and about as the case hasn’t actually been concluded yet. In Italy you’re allowed 2/3 rights to appeal before it’s actually decided.

For good measure, here's a Cipo bike with a Cinelli pin-up and an outboard BB. https://veloaficionado.com/blog/cannondale-caad-series-caad-3-team-issue-mario-cipollini-time-trial-bike
I’ve took my bike to the local mechanic who called me to say that the shifting isn’t very good with the cables internally routed. I’m going to see him in the morning but does anyone have any experience or tips for this? I really wanted them internal.
