In health check related news, I’m due one probably now I’m 49.
Being offered and receiving one is another thing.I think, based on family history my heart will decide it’s fucked around 60ish.

Yeah I'm 55 in May and apart from the bi annual Bowel Cancer screening letters I've never been called for an MOT or anything like it 🤔

There are inequalities at play with NHS health checks for the 40-74 population

I pushed for a health check (44) as I’d scared myself playing with my parents blood pressure monitor. It’s pretty basic stuff, quoting me bullshit BMI numbers and other obvious lifestyle tips. My cholesterol was 6 which they said was high for my age but when I pressed for more detail they actually realised it had fallen from five years earlier when I was tested for vitamin B12 deficiency. So yeah, don’t expect any great insights.

They'd began the MOT with me pre covid but nothing since. I mentioned to my gp recently and he said it is by request now. Might give it a whirl again.

I'm already dead. It's just alcohol and rage keeping a carcass moving around the planet these days.

Totally. Not sure about 'these days' though, unless you mean the days after 29 and onward.

A Swiss friend was telling me the results of his annual medical, which includes blood tests, scan etc. I do wonder if investing in such things could help manage some conditions from becoming more costly down the line.
All the chat here made me dig out my blood pressure monitor which is all fine. The past year I have diversified my exercise regime to include swimming a few times a week and swinging kettle bells in addition to yoga, walking the dogs, turbo trainer and mountain biking. I haven’t lost weight but am a little bit leaner. Am frightened by prospects of blood tests telling me I have hi cholesterol and diabetes which appear to be my genetic/lifestyle likelihood.
