• That looks great. What's the frame? And more pics please!

  • What's the frame?

Nice build @stromo , is that an 8bar disc fork?

  • Thanks, fork is some spare Diverge which was lying around. My favourite part about this one is front hub, it's old 9x100 QR 240s hub which i drilled on lathe with 12mm drill and voila, working like a charm. Also used enduro rims, besides frame only drivetrain is new.

@andyp Cheers! very nice riding one, love it, few more pics on my flickr

  • remember asking him for 142mm disc cog hubs somewhere in corona times...
    ... he finally did it!

  • Also, from experience, especially with two brakes, you can thread a fixed cog onto the freewheel side, mash hard up the nearest hill and it will not come undone accidentally. Thread an old BB lock ring outside the cog with a bit of blue thread lock if concerned.

I know this is perhaps ill advised, but with thousands of miles on and off road like this, on various hubs and gear ratios, I remain among the living.

How's this working out for you?

    Insanely stupid shit

Sorry to come across like a pedantic nanny who, but please, no one do this.

I just don't want anyone to get hurt.

At least you're running brakes and you'll be able to stop. Brakeless and this would be a ticking kiss of death.

    I'll get my hat.

  • Is that watermelon pomp(etamine) with transition rapture fork?
Had a pomp, bought a rapture fork.
Decided to sell pomp because too large. Kept fork just in case.
Didn't find one in my size relatively local (I am ye olde continental).
    Got impatient, sold rapture fork.
Now two years on I found a pompetamine in my size ere in Germany which is winging its way up to me rn, regret selling rapture fork.
    #csb.
I still could try the guy I sold it to..

  • Ahh yeah right, no disc tab.
I need a front and rear brake, hence overlooking the brklss

  • @ZenithE is right it is indeed a Squid fork .

  • Well, I guess its the first time posting my Lobster MonsterCross ™ on here. I had it built by Paul Sadoff back in 2018.

  • Anyone got photos of retro mtb-tracklocross conversions? I’m looking for inspiration.

  • I ride a stock halo aerorage wheelset on my fg track hanger bike but I'm interested in riding it off road using wider tyres. I think my aerorage rims are 14mm internal so can't really push the width. Maybe could do 35mms at a push but wouldn't be ideal (I was thinking these https://www.wolfcycles.co.uk/product/schwalbe-land-cruiser-hybrid-tour-bike-tyre/)

I could either re rim my wheels or procure a new set and unsure how to go about it.

    Thoughts welcome.

  • I had Grifo 33c on Aeros for years and I am still alive. I even ran Spesh Triggers(?) in 38c of quite a while as well. Just check yep I am still in one piece.

  • I'd spring for some nicer tyres. The Land Cruiser I've had have been heavy, stiff and not confidence inspiring off road.

  • yeah I know LRs are definitely the marathons of the off road scene -I learned about them from how apparently before tubeless really caught on, they were the prime pick for the 3 peaks cross race on account of how they stand up to the flints. And also I'm not super well-to-do at the moment and they're cheap.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone I've a while until I race so no rush.

  • Like it a lot 😎

  • Does this have an eccentric BB?

  • No just a magic gear, 42x20 and a half link IIRC

  • I’ve been taking to the trails lately on my shopping expeditions, I’m calling it in Quaxlocross.

  • NLD yesterday with the flatbar skream rat.

44x18 which was great for the road sections and follow the hydration vest gravel buyers but a too much for some inclines.

    Kudos to @stelfox
