  • Those following @Hulsroy topic couldn't miss his last realization, a super sexy, super special ATB frameset.
I feel like such a frameset deserves a build thread, so here we are.
    Stay tuned.

  • Subbed

  • This is gonna be good.

  • You have my attention.

  • Refreshes the page frantically

  • here for it.

  • More pics plz

  • Oh boy!

  • The brief
I was looking for an allroad bike with a few peculiar requirements, something that does not really exists in the industry.

    1. Roadish geometry (rather short wheelbase, steep angles, low BB)
    2. Clearance for 650x50B tires + 60mm fenders
    3. Light and "playful", so not overbuilt.
    4. Hints of classic MTB styling (segmented fork, wishbone)

  • Subbed! <3

  • God, why are Mads' frames so ugly and badly build, eugh....

(can not wait see this come along)

  • What colour are you going for?

  • Mads'

    FTFY

  • Madses

  • Many Mads.

  • Just local dialect, possessive determiner

  • Anyway, paint it green!

  • I feel like this spec list might have been the starting point for the midnight special, except as a Surly it would obviously be over built. And they neglected to get someone to design a nice fork. Then whoever designs their dropouts got involved.

But I’m here for a skinny tubed, steel fork all road bike, looking forward to seeing it progress

Edit: For the record I had a deposit down for a midnight special but it was delayed and I went for a Faran as detailed in my thread. You have described the bike I wanted

  • So much truth in this.

    Here for this build.

  • Still not a hundred percent sure on the colours.

It will most likely end up in a deep dark olive green, with yellow DT logo.

  • Never a truer word.

  • One of the highlights of the frame, quite the feat from @Hulsroy
No shortcuts such as yokes, wide BB shell or wide-axle cranks.
Pure and simple clearance for a 50mm tire under 60mm fenders, all while maintaining a 425mm chainstay. Big tire and low q-factor road crankset, what's not to love?

  • I can't believe that the first thing you did with your new bike was to chop half the tubes off

  • and, of course, subbed
