Am I remembering right that it's best to stick with just a double derailleur even when you have a larger jump like this?

I have a 42 to 22 on my Lee cooper and just use a standard suntour road front mech, it works just fine with indexed shifting :)

The Wankster™️ now has a Basil Portland rack, still looks like death though.

Anyone with experience with old man mountain racks? I need to put together a new commuter for my partner and I'm leaning toward a big brand hybrid (trek/canyon/merida kind of thing) instead of boutique Taiwanese steel, mostly for weight reasons.
Looks like they mount to special thru axles and you can zip tie them to a (sturdy) carbon fork.
Id also welcome any other ideas that come to mind for a lightweight hybrid with guards and a front rack? -

I have a 15 yo OMM rack that mounts to eyelets. It's been great on a number of bikes. Would not hesitate to get a new one for modern standards.

I've just fitted an OMM pizza rack to my gravel bike. Using a Fit Kit, which includes pucks for fork mounting and a Robert Axle Project thru axle.
Would recommend.

Uhhhh
Here's a new bike, new rack and some zip ties. Seems ridiculous. There are endless lightweight upright options that can take a rack and fenders.
Spesh sirrus for example?

My Microsoft friction shifter is on its way out, and before I replace it like for like, anyone used an Uno? Any good?
I can get like three microshifts for the same price, but do fancy something fancy...
-
• #27394
I think the Uno uses the same micro ratchet as the rivendell/silver/ene shifters - and the action is much much nicer than Sunrace or Shimano ime.
I haven't tried a Microshift thumbie, so can't quite compare apples to apples..
Treat yourself, if you feel like it - I don't think you will be disappointed.edit: honking bit kit by the looks of it though

I agree with @MisterMikkel
Treat yourself, you’re worth it.
I’ve had the Riv/ene shifter before and it was nice and shiny. It didn’t feel or shift any better than Microshift. When I got the Microshift I was pleasantly surprised by how nice they feel. -

You can modify a sturmey archer/ sunrace thumb shifter to be friction (not fancy though)
Or put some down tube shifters onto a thumb shifter clamp. -

Only seems to be on Freshtripe in UK and Sold out :-(
Microshift it is. One day...

Yeah right, I don't know whats up with people
That's reassuring.
I'll at least experiment with what I have/have bought then.
@Tijs a front mech with integrated barrel adjuster?
