Yeah, tough day to be a brake.
A group of us bailed on the road after Hainault Forest due to brakes being done.

We (HV) will probably run our Hackney to Whitstable gravel ride in early summer, will let you know once it's organised.
Also, A Day in Hell (first weekend of April) still has a few tickets.

Yeah, mine weren't happy either. I had about 50% braking power by the end. One of my clubmates had to stop by ditching it into a bush at the bottom of that little hill in Hainult Forest. It was good craic though even if I was terrified I had trenchfoot for 3/4 of the ride.

This gravel business sounds awful

Do you have a route for this you could share?

It's good for your skin

Assuming that the answer to this is "no"?

It's a nice route when the weather is less shit.

Thanks! Although I mean the one to whitstable :)

Oh, yes, I should have it somewhere. Let me figure out which app it's saved in.

https://www.strava.com/routes/2939133904107176718 here we go. From memory, it's a bit 'roady' at the end but it's mostly a lovely route. Definitely one for dryer conditions though, I remember some farmer's fields when you get into Kent proper.

What shifter is it?
-
• #30043
I believe it's an older SRAM Force mechanical/hydro unit - stock on the 1x Slate.

• #30044
It's child's play on the SRAM non-hydro levers. I have not tried on hydro but it looks to be mostly the same process: https://jeffsbike.blogspot.com/2020/05/curing-1x-sram-1x-to-2x-shifting.html?m=1
If the bike you're referring to is this one, then it looks it doesn't have a left shifter paddle so you'd have to source that somewhere

Ah, in this case, you may as well just buy Sram's one.

Double post.

The drop bar levers on the market are actually pretty nice nowadays, you can use them from the hood or drops. I think you can get ones from fox, Easton, enve, pro, wolf tooth and probably more

Ah, good spot. Also: bugger.

I admit, that's probably a good idea, but now that I know I can have a really tidy installation that's what I'd like to do.
Can confirm the weather did not improve. We had hail, pissing rain and a tiny bit of sunshine. Half my group gave up due to mud-related mechanicals, so many brakes gave up the ghost.
Fair play to anyone who did it on Sunday instead, you had a lovely day for it!
