• Just in case anyone is interested - Berm Peak / Seth's Bike Hacks just did a video on helmet testing and the scoring driven from the standards at Virginia Tech. Good watch.

  • Just in case anyone is interested

Well, @Chaley was interested a day ago 😀

  • Thanks I thought it was something like this - I’m also pretty sure driving is much ‘safer’ than cycling (at least acutely and from the occupant’s perspective).

  • I seem to remember driving is particularly skewed by motorway travel which is very safe per mile traveled.

  • Meh. Not the first time I have failed to keep abreast of all teh threadz. But thank you.

  • Whole new dimension of "if you weren't wearing a helmet your head wouldn't hit the ground in the first place".
Unless the upper part of his head is a Giger alien.

  • Obviously without all that extra weight and larger size your head would've been clear of the floor and you'll be injury free

Was what I was looking for.

  • Obviously I'd wear that one because there's finally a helmet that looks cool.

  • Could probably fit some hairdressing equipment in there so you arrive at work with a freshly cut barnet.

  • Or maybe a head massage apparatus.

  • Or it's for literal dickhead cyclists

  • Reminds me of MDK.

  • I want one. Imagine the rage of the gammon taxi mob when they have to sit behind it in an ASL box. You could paint it with educational messages about the contribution of LTNs to health and happiness and national productivity. Strokes and heart attacks would ensue. Perhaps even spontaneous combustion.

  • Just adding my small contribution from today’s ride

  • Damn. You ok fella?!

  • I’m fine thanks, just feeling rather fortunate (and a bit bruised)

  • Any low profile helmets with decent straps?

I have a nice limar helmet but the straps are shite and twist up or the fastenings slide off, POC have nice straps but look like a bread bin on my head

Where do I get a small lid with good straps?

  • Kask mojito 3 I would say fits the bill. Really like mine.

  • It’s a nice lid

  • After my crash yesterday there's some scratches. I don't think it's serious as I didn't land on my head, but I think when I rolledit scraped a little on the rim by my forehead. Anyway; it's a SPIN version of a POC helmet (their since stopped MIPS alternative).

Does anyone know if the MIPS/SPIN is multi-use or just a one-shot as stuff definitely came unstuck a little.

  • It's only that it has a suspended bit of plastic that actually fits on your head right? To enable the foam to float. There's nothing special in there to enable it to spin, it just floats. I also use a POC spin lid.
I'd say if the foam hasn't taken an actual hit, there's no reason why it's not still fine. Just make sure the plastics are all pushed in and twisted locked into the sockets on the lid and that all your inner foam is velcroed in place.
