There is a lot of old school attire like that where I really don't understand how it can fit into modern life in the UK. See also proper overcoats and those horrible scratchy fisherman's jumpers.
I can't help but think if you want the tweed look, but retaining some FOM and not turning into a sweaty gammon, you are actually better looking for modern fashion equivalents.
Anything made using Harris Tweed is usually decent quality but I ended up selling the one jacket I owned because it made me overheat.
