powdercoat though which is a treatment I feel has no place on a bicycle but that's another conversation
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this!

I think it’s too good at hiding what’s going on under it.
There’s no anti corrosive properties of powder coat like there might be with primer/paint.
Additionally (and this is an issue with people doing the work not the process or material itself) I think frames are often blasted too aggressively by powdercoaters resulting in thin spots and warping/stresses. I was told by someone that works with sheet metal that they can’t blast just one side of a workpiece, doing so causes it to warp, you have to then blast the back to get it back to (near) flat again. I don’t think that can be good for a frame and I think I’ve seen the result of that in having to repair cracks in frames that have been powder coated.
It’s also a cunt to work with, if doing repairs etc.

You can't braze an air sealed tube though. Maybe TIG you can get away with it.
Even then Fat City and Indy Fab had tons of issues with rust on blind tubes.

I wonder if the reason there are so many vintage lugged frames that are still going strong and haven’t rusted away to nothing is because the entirety of each tube is a breather hole at the BB lug, zero chance of any moisture puddling in any of the tubes.

Switching this up with some FMB 40mm gravel tubs

gravel tubs?! file that next to chocolate teapots

One bad decision after another.
Although the Schwalbe G One gravel tubs I have been running for the last two years have only punctured twice and resealed easily with sealant.

Not content with one archaic cyclocross bike, I bought this stigmata.
I've basically done an amey, because I only bought it because I have an unused ritchey canti fork and the SRAM force 1 levers on planet x are a crazy bargain.
Possibly going to get it painted 6018 or 6038. Or maybe 6021.

I fully approve of this development

I almost bought this a week ago....
Glad it's gone to good hands.

I vote 6021

If anyone has a SRAM 1x rear mech they want to move on, please shout.
Google suggests my Gevenalle BURD won't fly with SRAM force. Would be happy to swap / part exchange if that made sense for anyone.
Also, shout if you have or see a better bargain than this chainset.

Are these any use?

What length? I have a pair of old 175mm Sram Force GXP cranks with a lacquered carbon weave which might suit this. 130bcd though.

• #391
130 BCD not viable I think

Pass, thanks

Got some avid shorty brakes from glws.
Colour wise, I am going to go for Old Glory Blue, or RAL 5026, which is the closest match. Then silver finishing kit. Or a silver Chris king headset.
Please shout if you have a silver Thomson seat post or stem you want to move on.
With it being a made in the USA frame, I'm going to channel MAGA for this build.

DA9K is god tier groupset.
Aesthetically I prefer the BMC.
The new stem I have stuck on the spesh is too long and low. Have I tried yoga? No, I have not.
Got it, nice to learn people's thinking behind the processes.
Cheers both.
