  • had a look at tylko ?

  • If you go the tylko route then design something on their website, save the design and sign up, revisit the design but not buy it, wait for the 30% discount email.

  • 35% code on the website at the moment anyway, but don't feel time pressured, as above there is perpetually between 25 and 40 if you're on the mail list.

  • Yeah just had a look. 40cm max depth - could do with a bit more but otherwise a contender. Enough of a gap underneath to get a duster in at least.

  • ah, gotcha - tbh looking at the cost of of these, might be worth searching instagram via tags or sometime to try and find someone who’ll do you something bespoke? i do recognise good work ain’t cheap, but you might get lucky?

  • Looking for some recomendations from the forum hive-mind:

    • Dining table and one bench. Something like 850mm wide and 2300mm long. Something really strong and that will wear in, not wear out, because it's going to be the centre of the room and used for dining/working/working on guitars/cat sleeping zone/everything. This with black legs caught my eye, but is there anywhere else I should be looking? https://www.thetableguy.co.uk/product-page/rustic-refectory-dining-table

    • Sideboard for very heavy HiFi, and place to store various junk. No turntable so it doesn't have to be that deep.

All destined for this room, once it exists:

  • That's a nice room.

  • Just CGI at the moment, so we'll see... Kitchen island idea has been ditched for a nice solid table. Hi-Fi sideboard wants to go on the right where the radiator is in that image.

  • Just love the doors and wood at the back.

I've just bought my first home and scouring gumtree/freecycle for free stuff at the minute but cool to see what to aspire to

  • If you want that style I'd look for vintage.
Also think that tables with a cross bar at the bottom are incredibly annoying.

  • Great decision if you ask me, will make it more homely

  • I'd be tempted to look 2nd hand in out of London charity shops. The Emmaus furniture shops are usually pretty good if you can get to a big one. Your best bet is mapping out a route of the and having a massive sesh round them.

  • Might be worth looking at Heals, depending on budget - got a solid oak refectory table which is very much one to wear in, not wear out, and not at all showing its age. (That said, it was about a grand 18 years or so ago.)

  • Kitchen island idea has been ditched

I agree, unless you’re really short on counter space (and a big table provides that, plus it’s lower which is preferable for some jobs and some users) I’d say stay with this idea.

I’m selling my Michael Anastassiades Rochester sofa. It’s similar to this but is grey material all over. Comes with footstool.
    £500 or best offer

If you take it in the next few days £300

  • Interested, whereabouts for collection?

  • I found a johannes andersen for uldum møbelfabrik chair on Facebook marketplace for a tenner.
May refinish it (new process to me), might not bother. Missing a bolt, which should be fine to replace, but also missing the bolt cover which is made of the same wood

  • Very similar to ours.

I think we have a couple in the loft in that fabric and the rest are in a fetching retro brown. Here's one of the armchair ones.

    They're great chairs. Really comfortable.

  • Very nice find, I really want a nice chair and have had this bookmarked for a while but £10 is much more my budget atm

  • We got a pretty good deal on our set.

We picked up some really cheap, then found a full set with 2 arm chairs from a DE supplier on Ebay for a good price.

I'll see if I can find them. I guess Brexit may change the price and ease though.

  • start with methylated spirit - wirewool with a rag (cut old tee shirt) on top - see where that gets you
