• Miso Butter Noodles is a winner in the quick dish selection at the moment.

Just make sure you mix the miso and vinegar together before adding to the wok.

And use peanuts. Not sure why pine nuts were his choice...

  • this brand was nice, lots of sauce

  • Tried the carbonara noodles again. Reading the instructions on the packet again, you boil these noodles in a pan and then drain keeping 6 tablespoons of the boiled water.

Actually nice, with mushrooms, garlic and spring onions.

Please excuse dirty nails been gardening.

  • Just plonking these here because I’ve got a 5-pack of Shin Ramen from the supermarket in the cupboard. (I know, basic bitch noodles etc.)

  • Oh I do like those noodles.

  • They sound good!

  • I did a cheesy Shin Ramyun like one of the ones above. Grated cheddar in milk and a couple of slices of burger cheese to stop it splitting. Man that’s some heavy shit. Not sure I’ll do it again.

  • Selection

  • Imagine the scene:

You only have a microwave at work and you’d like to cook some noodles and whip up a quick DIY broth and maybe add some broccoli or something so you don’t feel too guilty.

Any tips for noodles that cook in the microwave? Any broth tips? I’d usually go veggie stock powder, some miso with dashi and sesame oil.

  • I would just cook a packet no? The noodles from those cook well in the microwave.

If not then any dried noodles work well tbh.

  • They all cook in the microwave. This is basically what I do at work all the time! I’d recommend a glass Tupperware with a lid like in my opening post. Prepare them however you like and give them a good stir every minute or so.

  • Udon noodle packets would work well, they barely need cooking.
2 pencils as chopsticks for Police Story noodle vibes.

Instant dashi powder is your friend for DIY noodle soup bases.
You'd want some soy sauce, maybe some garlic powder, maybe some chinese chilli oil, sesame oil etc.

Broccoli has no place in a noodle soup. Either its too mushy, or too crunchy, and the florets float around making you soup look like a stagnant pond.

  • I wouldn't be microwaving broccoli in an office if you want any friends

  • Jazzing up some instant ramen:

  • Found some Shin Ramyun Black and Nissin Demae Duck in the E&C Longdan.

They also had a full complement of the Buldak hot sauces if that's of interest to anyone?

  • Love the Buldag hot sauce. There's a mini Asian supermarket by my house that's incredibly well stocked for essentially a local corner shop.

  • Finally gave the 3x spicy a punt. They didn't taste that much hotter than the 2x but my guts are telling me otherwise. I thought I was a big man but I'll stick to the 2x I think.

  • The 3x spicy is brutal.
It doesn’t initially taste much hotter than 2x but it seems like 3x the quantity of noodles to get through.

I bailed half way through, my sense of self preservation kicked in.

  • Weirdly I didn't feel much extra heat when eating them but my stomach has been kicking off big time ever since so maybe I just broke my mouth?

  • Maybe you did break your mouth.

I could have continued to eat, but my body really rejected the thought of finishing the bowl.

    No gastric distress however.

Standard strength Buldak noodles are great though. Made a quick ham and cheese omelette as an accompaniment for a more substantial meal.

  • Local Waitrose have started stocking these. They have this and seafood flavour which is good too.

    Pretty good.
