Its so awful. Too much to write down about why its so awful. Being part of a credit union definitely makes it more bearable as almost all credit unions are part of a credit union network called Co-Op which is not dissimilar to Link in the UK, so I can at least use a lot of ATMs for free and do 'shared branch' banking - which means I can go into almost any credit union and they can pull up my account details and can withdraw cash or give me a cashiers cheque or whatever. But yeah, so backwards. Insane how much I have to use Zelle and Venmo because I can't just send money to someone's bank account.
But hey - at least most places do have contactless now. Including the subway in New York - that was a big win for whenever I visit for work.
