I reckon I'm after a hard case. My days of spending months touring are behind me but I do still plan on doing a week or so here and there over the next few years. I also think that it might work better for it's primary function of stacking my drums neatly in the corner of the spare room for 99.9% of the year.
Is the Gewa stuff decent though? I'm after a soft cymbal case for taking to practice. I'm extremely fed up of lugging a heavy hard case on public transport!
