  • I ordered the jeans style durable cotton trousers a few weeks ago - a bit short (I got 32" as no long available) and not very stylish, but perfect no-belt fit and very comfy. I'm hoping they look less shiny/synthetic with wear and wash.

  • ordered some softshell trousers thanks!

  • Snagged a final Milwaukee, ta

  • I bought a Milwaukee off ebay a month or 2 back and it's nice, but not terribly impressed. I think Swrve may have changed the fabric over the years but, I'm not sure. It's not waterproof at all, I mean, a 200 meter walk in heavy rain resulting in wet shoulders.

I have the Deck jacket and some blk lable 3/4s and they both shrug off the rain for ages before penetration. Perhaps I'll treat it

  • I still have one from (checks) 2017, so I'll see if they feel any different.

Mine's been a stalwart bit of kit so I hope they didn't change the recipe...

  • Thanks!

Just ordered a Milwaukee from the sale. I have one from 2014 that's had heavy use and is still holding up well, with only slight wear from bags. Hope this one is similar.

  • My old 32 waist Swrve are a bit baggy on my waist, the new 31's I picked up in this sale I can't even button up. #sadface.gif

Edit, I also have old 31 x 34 just tried on and these fit perfectly. Odd the new are so different.

  • I found the same with the new lines, I bought the camping trousers last year, had to exchange for a size up and they were still tight. Got some of the slim mid weights in the same size as the camping ones in this sale and they are tight.

It doesn't help there is no give in the waist (by design), I've got some older shorts in a smaller size and they fall off me.

  • Yeah, I liked the convenience of like 4 like stuff arriving. Hopefully the sizing up exchanges will work OK without too much faff.

  • The current sizing is explicitly the measured waistband, which is great for being able to choose the right size online. But does mean it's a size or two bigger than usual trousers which are more like a nominal body waist size and dependent on body shape as to whether they fit or not.

  • New Milwaukee is identical in measurement to old Milwaukee, except the new one is about half an inch longer in the sleeve. Outer material and fleece inner are both softer to the touch. I'll report back how it wears in another seven years.

  • I need some new shorts. I have a pair of the Transverse trouser shorts, wondering how the durable cotton ones compare, has anyone had both?

Turns out, I own both. They are close enough that I wasn't sure. I figured one pair was just older but there are some subtle differences.

The Transverse are a bit stretchier, a bit more technical and I'd guess that they would dry quicker when wet. Both are thick/durable. The Transverse are a little better but really just choose what ones to wear based on colour.

  • Yeah sad times I thought. Its a brand I've bought into many times over the years . I wonder if they thought about selling the business on?

  • That's really sad, they made the best knickers ever.

  • Picked up some jeans last week, are my absolute favourites, should have made it 2 pairs! What a shame.. was only just wishing the UK had more brands like swerve.

  • Anyone know some good alternatives to the camp trousers?

    (these ones: https://www.swrve.co.uk/products/durable-cotton-camp-trouser# )

  • Love my Swrve gear, never worn it on the biek mind

  • Still using a pair of swrve shorts 15 years later. They're in bits over the thighs, but hold up everywhere else. Amazing quality for the moneys.

  • Met Matt and Muriel back in 2010 when I was travelling and ended up in LA, very kind and gracious to a Londoner who popped in with a load of questions and some shorts that he wanted taken up by a couple of inches.
Swrve has always been my benchmark for cycle clothing that's good both on and off the bike, and if no one else buys the brand and continues what they've been doing, will leave the cycling clothing world to be consumed by lycra and the desire to emulate professionals, whilst leaving no space for those who just want to ride their bikes at a leisurely pace in city/urban spaces, in clothing that doesn't make you look like a dick.

  • Sad news, hope the product line can continue somehow. I've been doing my utmost to kill off a pair of their jorts for the past 11 years, I think they'll outlive me. Big fan of the transverse trouser short as well, think I'll pick up another pair or two because they are THAT good.

  • Just dashed to Condor and panic-bought some cordura jeans.

They say the main problem is that the manufacturer's minimum run has increased five-fold and Swrve just aren't in a position to order 30,000 items at a time.

I'm sad because I've spent much of the last 10 years looking shabby as fuck in nice comfy Swrve clobber that refuses to die.

  • Sad to hear this. There is more Swrve stuff in my wardrobe that I care to admit!

  • Sad news. My deck jacket is close to worn out, was thinking about order exactly the same so there is no hassle to find something similar.

Same for my 3/4 shorts durable cotton regular, I wear these all the time when not at the office from May to September-ish.
Recommendations for something similar? Cannot order them as they are no longer in stock in the size I need.
