one of the bike workshops I've worked in had the bosch one of these, known as 'the lazy tool'. For shit like bottle cages, fork crown bolts on mudguards etc, it was just the best

Impact driver is fine, just gotta work on your Scalextric finger

That's a good shout. I got my dad one of the bosch ones to replace their ancient one.
It still hasn't left it's packet and I'm quite envious, but not prepared to spend the £45 or whatever on myself

I've got one of the Bosch green ones but it's got a cradle for charging which I always misplace, been wanting to replace with a USB charging one for a while but not prepared to pay much for it as the Bosch one was working fine. For only £15 for that Black and Decker I was tempted though.

Boiler lost pressure overnight and all fixed fine this morning by adding more water to the loop.
That lead to messing around with the hot water cycle to make sure we could shower this afternoon once the cylinder was up to temp.
Looking at the temp on the thermostat on the cylinder though, it appears the unvented cylinder is set to 50deg. I thought 60deg was the minimum to avoid the risk of legionnaires?
Should I increase it?

Isn't that the temp for the immersion element? If you are feeding it via the boiler, the boiler decides - I'm not certain the cylinder and boiler actually talk to each other.

If I increase the temp on the dial, it calls for heat from the boiler 🤷🏼♂️
-
• #44184
It might have a high heat 'cycle' to clean it. Check the manual.

Ideal setting is 60°C. It should reach that once every day at least to kill bacteria including legionella.

60* for 30 mins once a week is sufficient, even that is on the cautious side

I thought this was interesting on the subject https://youtu.be/oJeyc_cGIMU?si=rKkvmOWAlTIzxMFq
Basically I wouldn't worry

Does anyone want to buy a 110v / site supply Makita jigsaw?
“Make an offer” is the suggestion from the person who’s selling it.

Out of interest, has anyone had a sun tunnel (tube) installed in their home?
-
• #44190
No but I've always been fascinated by these.

Ok, I’ve removed the crazy paving and excavated a bit under the concrete abutting the house. It’s seems an couple of inches thick and laid on a course of 2 bricks.
Do I remove it and cross fingers my house doesn’t collapse or make do with a step?

I’d bang that bar under the bricks and see if you hit anything hard before or as you reach the wall. If not I’d leave it well alone, but if you hit something hard rip it up.
All very scientific you understand;) -

Aren't those bricks the footings of the bay? As in - don't touch them, or your bay will fall down.
-
• #44194
Yeah I did that and definitely hit brick.
@TW no I don’t think so. They’re pretty loose and don’t seem to be bonded together. Or the mortar has eroded away.I guess I could measure from the bottom of the window to the sub floor inside and compare to the measurement outside?

Hmmm. Bet you wish you hand't done that now.

My wife’s parents have had a couple in their house since the 90s.
Proper installation is key. -

I'd be calling the police about that.

Yes. We had a velux one installed in the stairwell at our old house, it was amazing. Incredible amount of light channeled through and really made a difference to the area overall. Would highly recommend. We had a rigid mirrored tube installed.
Shit pictures, but gives you an idea. Was loads brighter than the picture suggests. I’ll see if I can find any others.

For furniture building and stuff I've got one of these
https://homehardwaredirect.co.uk/bdp0545/
USB rechargeable and fine for easy screwing where combi would be overkill and impact driver would just strip everything.
