I'm mean, it's almost as is such a high tax would disincentivise someone from choosing that particular vehicle, and maybe make them consider a greener alternative that didn't have such a punitive tax charge.
It's an interesting window into the psyches of different countries. The UK must think that ~£1800 is good enough to make people think twice, even though it obviously isn't.
