  • Hey, welcome to Glasgow.

I’m pretty antisocial and ride solo a lot but there’re a couple groups I ride with occasionally, depends what kinda pace and stuff you’re looking for.

Glasgrav I’d say are mostly a bit younger than me (I’m 41), rides are pretty social but the pace can pick up a bit. They do rides up at whitelee a lot and also mugdock etc. Think folk usually ride to the start from the city centre so you don’t need to drive.

SpecializedDoug organises rides and posts them up on the gravel bike Scotland fb group. They’re usually a bit further afield so have to drive to them. There’s a ride in Aberfoyle this Sunday. Older crowd than Glasgrav, nice social pace usually with a lunch stop. With the travel these rides become full day expeditions for me.

I did a Bike Barn ride up at whitelee the other week, little older crowd again but definitely not slow! Not sure if they post the rides up in the gravel bike groups or you have to maybe follow the shop.

There’s also the Analogue Syndicate, Fiefdom and probably a load others doing fixed rides, alley cats etc. I’m feeling a bit old for that kinda stuff now!

  • Thanks, that's a second recommendation for Glas Grav so far. Anything I can do to get to know the city better? Any word of mouth bike mechanic job tips?

Hope I spot some of your bikes on the street somewhere!

  • Getting to know the city...there's a few groups doing social rides around, don't know that any of them are really aimed at people that are already cycling a fair bit though if you know what I mean.

Bike mech jobs, not heard about anything recently but will give you a shout if I do.
