Surely they wouldn't make a president immune to prosecution whilst a there was a democrat president.
The implications would mean Biden could go on a rampage, knocking off political rivals.

I think they have to, unfortunately. He hasn't been convicted of anything, yet, especially related to an insurrection, so from a legal perspective, it's hard to see how a court can disqualify him for running based on accusations, rather than a conviction. The comments made by the Supreme Court Justices during the hearing showed that they are troubled by this point.
I think it shows a major weakness in the checks and balances of the US system on a rogue president, but good luck getting that fixed in an era of hyper partisanship.
