Despite hating human food, one of ours will always jump up onto the counter as soon as we go upstairs to bed. We did find once that she'd been in the salt that we used to leave out on the counter, so that's something we have to keep hidden now.
I've seen the tin foil trick online a lot, but no idea if it works long term.
