It was de riguer on stayer bikes, yes. Amazing old stayer bike you have there.

Was thinking of building a retro 26" MTB then remembered I still have my old Norco hardtail that I could barely give away last time i tried. I also have a steel fork and I'm pretty sure everything else I need to get it built up single speed except for wheels.

It can take 26x2.35 if memory serves and I just chucked in 700x35 which fit so I recon there's room for 27.5x2.1-ish. I've got hubs and wtb 650b rims so need to decide on wheel size and tyres/rims.

yes i know, i was just saying sometimes we see decathlon bikes with reversed forks....killer installation ....:P

The worst thing is department store bikes with “suspension” forks on the other way around imo - I see a lot of them as well

Didn't get along with the first gen LX brake levers, so went for the latest in Panda vbrake tech.
Makes me realise the all black on this embarrassing frame wasn't such a good plan.

Also cut the bars 4cm each side so it's a bit more city friendly.

Is it me or is that fork negative rake i.e. the wrong way round? Actually the dropouts suggest it isn't but then rake is 0 judging from the pictures..?!

I actually think I dibsed this somewhere in the dark distance past. Really great frame. Sucker for sparkly purple.

Lol it’s zero rake fork, apparently BJ built the frame in the height of FGFS and designed it so it could barspin. I’ve only ever known of two existing.

Fork looks backwards but can assure you it isn’t, recessed nut only goes in one side.

Mad amount of trail. Does it handle like a tank?

This is now the bike I use the most so I decided to do some upgrades.
Went from 20 year old mechanical brakes to hydro and saved around 1kg.
Plus new pedals, stem, bars and Ergon grips.
