Been a while since any updates here! Had some surgery beginning of October which meant no bike riding for a bit. So took the opportunity to a frame swap I'd been considering for a while as the kona was out of its usual daily action and the tyres were on their last legs, while I had the wider pair for the trek ready to go that wouldn't fit in the kona, so managed to convince myself this made more sense than just buying new tyres...
Partway through I was questioning why I'm wasting my hard earned peas on building the same bike I just took apart. But actually has made a big difference and despite mostly being the same parts the trek seems to ride nicer and fit me better than the kona did. And as with my other bikes adding dynamo lighting is always a game changer.
Current forks are basic ones that were cheap on fb marketplace which work for now though pretty heavy replacing the ds2 suspension forks it came with. Hoping to eventually upgrade to something nicer/light. Maybe segmented fork or so p2's etc.
Not the best photos but just put new cassette and chain on so thought better take a couple before gets all covered in grime!
