I also have an Ile rack bag and really recommend it.

Any reason why I can't mount a specialised pizza rack to P-clamps around my steel fork? Seems like a far cheaper alternative to the Tubus LM1.
-
• #1304
P-clamps aren't for any kind of serious weight-bearing loads. People may use them for racks, but I would never take that chance, especially for a front rack.

Just as a follow-up, ended up going for the Pelago Commuter bag. Initial impressions are that it is decent quality for the money, with solid hardware and design. However I am slightly surprised at how rigid the lower padded sections are - it makes it quite bulky to carry and limits the capacity of the side pockets. I am toying with the idea of seeing if the side panels could be removed / replaced with some more flexible foam, and would be interested in hearing thoughts on this (especially if someone has done the same).

Keep running out of room on my daytripping rides, picking up pastries etc. thinking of getting a Restrap Rando Bag again. Any long term users on here recommended it?
Seems to fit the bill of pizza rack compatible for front panniers, roomy, not too heavy, looks pretty safe.

This video showed me to the Pelago* which appears to be more flexible.

*Not particurlarly helpful as I had to have it delivered to a mate in EU.

I've had the smaller rando bag for a while now and to be honest, I wouldn't recommend it. The shape and accessibility is nice, but the attachment system with the magnets isn't secure and it rattles about when riding. I've had it bounce of the mounts a couple of times which has felt pretty unsafe. I'm thinking of modifying and attaching mine via velcro straps to make it quieter and less annoying.
I've used it on both a pizza rack and a BLB mini front rack if that helps.
It's not like they are cheap either so I would look at something like Swift or Wizardworks instead if you have the funds! -

Yeah fair.
Maybe it's back to basket time....
-

I had to set mine up with magnet mounts and a decaleur to really make myself confident.

I have the Rando bag in small and large and I rarely use them. I feel the magnet attachment is too much of a hassle and I broke 3 of those plastic magnet things on the bottom of the bag.
I got both of those either really cheap or with a bike and I'm glad I didn't spend any more than that on them.
The last time I used either of them I had the small one bungee corded to a Ikea basket and it was fine.

Hihi,
My fork has a crown mudguard mount, as well as these mounts on the inside, but it doesn't have any on the outside. Are these inside mounts suitable for a front rack? I've seen some images to suggest racks can be mounted to inside mounts, but also posts suggesting they're not designed to be weight bearing.

I don't see why they'd be less weight bearing that outside ones, but not a fork expert.
I have a rack mounted on the inside mounts o my forks and they've been fine.
-
• #1315
It may be harder to set up due to the legs of the rack being narrower than on the outside of the forks...But thats what bending it for.
As @RonnieOatmilk said, no reason for weight bearing issues.
I would say its okay

Always interested to know, what are people carring in their carradices / wizard works etc on a daily basis? Once you get past tools, spare jacket etc, whats taking up the room?
Feel a bit like i'm missing some stuff as it's always a bit saggy when its underloaded.

I’ve just had a look and my Pizza bag has,
Tool roll
Pump
2 x spare tubes
Rain jacket
Work clothes
Wallet
Phone
Aeropress, Grinder, Beans, Filters, Mug, they all fit inside each other
Flapjacks
Bottle opener
Hand wipes
Sunglasses
3 x bungees
And a pair of secateurs that I’ve been hunting for for ages (thank you)
When my seatpack looks a bit underfed I stuff my light weight ‘down’ jacket in there to puff it up a bit. -

Just checked:
Albion Zoa down jacket
820g Danish rye (Rugbrød)/100% wholemeal rye with pumpkin seeds
Linea Mini
Multitool
Aesop x Raeburn adventure roll with skincare etc
Wallet (lots of wallet inspections in my area, which is annoying but fair enough it is important that your wallet is up to spec and not too heavy)
Snowpeak Ti fork
Go Out vol 43
Bivvy (just in case)
Ultra dank shaolin hydro kush that my cousin got me. It's from 2021 haven't got round to smoking it yet gives me a bit of a headache tbh. -

On a metal fork like that, the mounting points will be brazed in, so there would be no difference in strength between internal or external mounting points.
However those mounting points would have been put there for mounting mudguards, not a rack. The only very small concern would be that that fork has not been tested with the weight of a rack and luggage in mind. If you are not near the max weight limit of the bike, and ride sensibly, then don't worry at all, you'll be fine mounting a rack on there. If you're >100kg, want to put 20kg of stuff on the rack and ride like a prat then you may have some durability issues. -
• #1321
anyone got recommendations for a rack that I could attach a basket to, that'll mount on mid-fork eyelets and a brake hole and fit over a 29er tyre?
-
• #1322
Surly 8-Pack? I'm sure I saw something from Wizard Works/Tumbleweed for front wheels too.

Pizza rack?
-
• #1324
I'm using Tubus low rider which rules out pizza rack. However, I've found this:
which should work, but as it turns out I should have got the model with adjustable struts, mine aren't quite long enough to clear the tyre.
Where can I buy some struts with a bolt hole either end?

Extra layers to flex on your underdressed friends and snacks to make new ones with
Nice one, thanks all.
That eBay one is very tempting.
Unfortunately I live outside London otherwise would’ve taken you up on the offer Aroogah
