What did you cut the chainstays with?
-

Just a hacksaw. Dremel would probably have been easier but the battery was flat. You have to undo the blade and feed it through the triangle to get all the angles.

Strong posting. Much appreciation.

Agreed, excellent posting. What is going on with the hog's back? Appears to have a dedicated tea towel and beer can holder on the top tube...
Capacity for about 15 litres of liquids but only a basket for solids - use case: short day rides into the heart of the desert?

Days rides, 1 beer, enough hydration and food in the basket for a good time.
Sounds sweet to me!

Need chain/crankset recommendations for my Raleigh project (it's a Record Ace not a Royal).
Can't decide between 1x or 2x.
Want something kinda retro/classy looking. I have some Ultegra 6600 HT2 arms that might look alright. The 38t minimum ring size probably means 1x if I use them and I'm struggling to find a decent looking small n/w ring.
Thought I'd gotten a nice set of Stronglights but have realised it's unlikely my 10speed chain will play nicely with the rings which are probably 8 or 9 speed vintage. Also don't know if the front mech I have (Campy road) will manage with the difference in chainring sizes.

Strong posts! Thanks

My 11 speed chain works perfectly fine with 9 speed rings. Give it a go, nice looking crankset.
Get a modern 105 derailleur with integrated barrel adjuster which will work perfectly with the 16t chainring difference.

Yeah you'll be fine with this. Give it a go!

Ye I think the inside width of chains is all the same, it's only the outside width that differs between speeds. So they would all work with a single ring, it might affect (effect? who the fuck knows?) shifting with a double but probably not between 8/9/10
Between what you are up to and that danish perfectionist the desire to start brazing is getting stronger.
Love the picture with the huge piece of round metal on chain stays!
