Does anyone have suggestions for -17° 9 or 10cm stems? I'm having trouble finding any that are not from AliExpress

Very nice. I think an older gloss black Zipp service course would work well. Available in -17.

Seen that pic before and still can't help but think it's too big for him!!!
-

I think that happens with a lot of custom big bikes for tall people, 66cm frames with 5cm seatpost showing.

maybe, but he was 2.16m and at that point a svelte 130kg.
Thats a lot of human for a bike frame to carry.

@kjlem @Matisse I've known of that photo for a few decades now and still can't help but look at the distance between the saddle top and pedal and compare that with his crotch (his giant height doesn't come from overly long legs) and his trainers and it doesn't work out, not at that saddle height anyway.

I know right, it's annoying me more than it should, its like the brands build it as ridiculous as possible to make it stand out.
A size XL was 21.5" so why does this need to be 40"...
Here is another example, too much stand over height too.

Imagine how flexy that frame above was! A few inches smaller, a few more inches of post and it wouldn't ride so much like a noodle. And no bollocks v top tube incidents 😬 At least the 'dale had some standover room.
Still, our Dad's did similar back in the day whilst saying 'we'd grown into them'. -

Got my hands on this, CAAD6 Saeco. Not doing a period correct build but got DA 7800 and Reynolds AR58's to go on to it.
Pretty stoked, been keeping my eyes open for one of these for a while.

Repainted my pink CAAD9, sourced a full carbon Si fork and added lots of Super Record/Record bits and pieces. Fitted a Super Record cage to a Chorus rear derailleur, creating a derailleur somehow lighter than a full SR unit. 7.2kg as is. Really chuffed.
Looks very gangly thanks to my poor photography skills, but:
(Saddle already adjusted to level. Bartape will return to black once novelty wears off)Not sure whether I've posted my commuter in both summer and winter mode:

Have you spotted the BB height due to the massively long crank arms though? Sure the ST could be shorter, but I think it would look even odder then.

Built up, going for a quick shakedown ride to see how it goes!

Lush.
And seeing how well the red calipers fit just reinforces that there is something amiss with my R1000

A mate of a mate of a mate (you get the idea) has a warranty replacement evo supersix in the green colours. QR rear, thru-axle fork. Tempted to buy it but it feels strangely cheap... could be the QR rear tho?
-
• #16674
absolutely, Quick releases scare the average buyer

Any issues with disc-rear and QR... altho as I type that I realise my 6" travel MTB from about 14 years ago has the same setup and my DH bike was the same.
But this is much better
