  • Congrats! Black cats are ace.

Leave them be for a bit. They’ll come out when they’re comfortable.

    They’ll want a cuddle soon enough @ChainBreaker

  • @Soul is right: cat hugs are best.

  • DON'T HUG THEM TOO HARD @ChainBreaker

  • Cats are liquid. They'll be fine.

  • My mum's 1 year old, Gus. He doesn't have very many brain cells, bless him

  • And my Dad's senior guy, Elvis. Purrs like a motorboat and then immediately bites the second he's had too much. Less is more with Elvis. He has lost his singing voice these days, he sounds like a toad

  • Next cat Q

May has been taking her eye drops reasonably OK, however the bit she hates is us having to spend a good minute or so cleaning the gunk off and around her eyes.

He's now developed this kind of hard/stiff bit around her whiskers. Is there any technique trying to loosen this that doesn't give her absolute grief? At the moment it's just a warm cotton pad and holding it gently to try and loosen it, but she quite clearly hates it

  • This is a photo taken last year of our beautiful cat Suzy, unfortunately she passed away on Boxing Day which was two full moons ago today. I was devastated and still miss her loads we had her 11 years I picked her up from Gumtree when she was 3 years old and really loved every moment we spent with her she was a great friend / companion to us over the 11 years.

Had such good times, everyone used to remark how calm Suzy was and affectionate. Totally wish she was still around, totally pawsome.

  • My condolences.

  • Managed to get Waily to poke his head through the catflap and it unlocked which means someone over the years has chipped him. Saves me a stressful vet trip, now just need to get the rest of his body through it. He's still suspicious of it, so much so that he hasn't been in the back garden all week, choosing to come in the front every time.

  • Sorry to hear this, she looked a beautiful girl

  • Little victories.

So wailly may have had an owner...

  • We know his first proper owner died so probably chipped by them

  • Ah poor waily, left to fend for himself. You and one less are so good/nice to look after him.

    You are awesome people.

  • Won't you still need a trip to the vet to get it read so you can change the details on it?

  • Yeah would be ideal, he's probably registered to a house on our road but need to psych ourselves up for that. He's still a bit semi-feral at times.

  • I used the stick approach with Betsy, when we first installed one she wouldn't go near it, we tried treats and everything to get her through (she doesn't like being picked up), decided to deploy the tin foil that she hates :( and she legged it straight out of it and used it ever since!

  • Just got him to go through it by not letting him out any other way and standing outside holding it open. It's only taken a week. Now to get him to open it himself.

  • We have a fat cat (6.1kg) and a not fat cat (2.8kg)

For a while now, we’ve been using a microchip feeder to lock away the smaller cats foot but even with things in the way, he’s been holding her down as she eats and stealing her food.

Tonight, we built a cardboard food shelter which is small enough for her and not for him.

This is the picture of the first use. His disgust is palpable.
