  • Thanks. I'll post it here as well for the anti IG people as well:

In 2009 my wife and I flew to Japan for a month of back packing as a break from architecture studies. We started out in Tokyo and I was mad for going to this mystical fixie bike shop called Blue Lug. I ended up carrying a set of cream coloured panaracer tyres, pink Strong-V grips, pink Kashimax saddle, Dura Ace track hubs and some other NJS parts including handlebars for the entire month in Japan. I was sooo stoked to be there. I tried talking bikes but it was difficult. I wanted to know how this all came about. I was overwhelmed by the intense selection of unobtainable bike stuff.
Anyways, cut to 2024 and Blue Lug is now carrying my bottle cages and have started putting them on builds. I cannot believe how everything has now come full circle. I have been interested and fascinated by Japanese culture and craftsmanship since meeting my two Japanese friends Momoko and Tomoyo (who I should contact) back in 2007. My work today is influenced by everything I have learned about Japan and the sort of unpolished yet refined finish of my cages is definitely inspired by how I see japanese craft sensibility. What a great Friday!
