If you clamp a tube in a well fitting tube block and tighten a fixing into the tube it puts a perfect tiny indentation without surrounding distortion.... I wondered whether this would add or reduce stiffness to a tube and if it would look good in select places. Could look shit though, I don't know. A headtube would look great though!
It would be fun applying paint when doing a fade because one colour would highlight the dimples more.

  • Blue Lug ... have bought stock

now the most expensive component on my bike

  • Great ideas Sam! Thx

I need a visual sketch of the concept but I'll mull it over when I have a minute

  • <3

Thanks for your support though. Really appreciate it

  • This
reminded me of this thread — outside of the bdhu

  • That looks fun, but doesn't the BB look a bit too high with the 700c and big tyre conversion?
I really enjoy the modification pictures and videos. Its the future 👌👌

  • Fork off! Yes I'm using cheat codes

  • Forks look fab, think I may have said before but coins, in Gios homage style, on the flats on the top of the legs?

  • I can hardly pay rent. No way i am spending more money on framebuilding :)

  • Some more forking business from today

  • Brass or golden coins on crown would indeed be chefs kiss.

  • There won't be any coins on that fork. Nor dolphins on the frame :)

  • Who's stealing your tools that you gotta tag them?

  • Doubloons surely, faux ones if necessary.

(Apologies for tangent. But coins. And if not dolphins, mermaids)

  • Shared workshop of four people and one is leaving the workshop this month so we are dividing the tools between us.

  • Put down a deposit for a framset and lets discuss how coins could be used on your build. My values are for sale

  • More fork stuff.

I was skeptical when @Pish suggested a recessed bolt for the rack/dynamo light. Now I feel I might not ever do it any other way again.

  • Recessed bolt looks very smart, will you not have a flat mounting surface for a light or rack then?

  • What's the clearance on that? Looks real tidy!

  • Recessed bolt is on the rear of the forks. On the front side is a 10mm flat surface for lights or rack. It's stainless so will stay pretty and rust free.

    Check out this little video

  • In that photo ^ you got a 700c wheel with 35mm tyre but it is designed for 650b with 50mm tyre and 64mm mudguards

  • I really really like how the forks came out. I don't really fancy the straight tube that is the crown, but with the right fillets that are bit heavier on the underside of where the "crown" meets the legs it ends up with a similar stance as true segmented forks!

My next attempt in improving this design is rolling the crown tube to a slight radius. Enough that it is visibly curved but so that it can still slide through the fork steerer.

They will be called segmented sausage forks.
