Not an especially helpful picture ...

  • I can’t believe I’m reposting this. Reference to a post from 20 days ago (https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17238531/)

Well my pal just got back from visiting me in Australia a few days ago. Picked up the e-bike from the police station. Was absolutely delighted to be reunited with the bike, and also jet lagged, left it in the car. Within hours someone broke into the car and nicked the bike (now in the Peckham area)
Hoping it gets abandoned by the thief, again. As the wheels are pit-locked, obviously they won’t have a charger for it. If anyone sees it please get in touch.

  • Hey hey,

My beloved dark green brother kepler disc got stolen yesterday (30/01/2023) near shoreditch high street station. The pic below shows the setup, only difference is that it had all black 700c wheelset (handbuilt).

Other notable features are a 2x grx800 groupset and my ism saddle. If you see anything similar do let me know.

  • Hey folks. Had my brand new Cannondale Supersix Evo nicked from my flat in Peckham on 10/02/24 - thieves tailgated a resident through the front doors, broke into the bike shed and cut the locks. It’s a one-of-kind build and not exactly subtle looks-wise. Should stick out like a sore thumb if they try to flog it. Any info, I’d appreciate it.

  • Alas, my Kinesis Racelight Granfondo Ti Disc was stolen on Monday 29th January 2024 from inside the apartment block in Barking. It’s all on CCTV camera, currently waiting for the Police to decide if they’re going to investigate or not. The person who stole my bike rode to my apartment block on a shitty mountain bike which they left behind and rode off on my bike. It was crashed, thus the chain was off, tires needed pumping and shifters were a bit knackered.

Size: 54cm with Campagnolo 10speed Record Groupset, Hunt Aerolight Wheelset, Titanium seatpost, Selle Italia SMP Dynamic saddle, Deda Presica Carbon Handlebars and Shimano SPD Pedals.

  • Does anybody use the Apple AirTags on their bikes? Police asked if I had any sort of tracking device.

  • I came across yet another victim of cockpit theft tonight. The theft location this time was Rufus Street in Shoreditch.

  • Another cockpit theft, Sloane Square, brand new bike which just got dialled in.

  • I do, also use Bikefinder GPS tracker with another bike, with the backpedal retrieval service. Police don’t accept air tags as reliable trackers I’ve heard

  • My post from a month ago had a happy easy ending. I popped into the police station and said I didn't have any more proof it was my property but I wanted to inform them I was going there with a cordless disc cutter and would be retrieving it. The nice lady on the desk said hold on I'll write you a crime number card so if you're questioned you won't get into trouble!!
Of course the bike had suffered but it was superficial and it's already primed ready for a repaint and rebuild with an old school twist.
    My boy's happy.

  • I wish I knew this was local, we have a flat two streets away from where that was locked up. Would have happily liberated that for you. Glad you got it back though.

  • Cheers, I didn't have the balls to rock up and grind through the chain without the crime number to back me up, and the padlock was totally blown apart with rust so couldn't be picked for a more discreet removal. As it happens, 2 people did come up to me whilst I was mid grind but were happy to leave me to it when I flashed the card.
And to top it off, I cut the chain near the padlock and made myself a nice new chain with a bit of inner tube around it 😄

  • I got a Knog Scout for one of mine recently. So alarm and tracker combined. Works similarly to AirTag via Apple findmy. It’s quite subtle annd tracks even if the alarm function is switched off.

It’s mainly a peace of mind purchase for me and but who knows, if an alarm starts going off maybe a casual thief wouldn’t bother. Some of the reviews say good things. My experience decent but the Bluetooth range is too short to get a phone alarm reliably if the bike moves.

  • I'm amazed anyone approached you! I semi regularly have to cut locks for work and I think 1 person ever has said anything to me. That was because I was cutting a lock on the bike next to his and he was worried about dust getting on his nice Condor.

  • Nice one - get a better padlock thou dude one crack with a hammer and you’ll be chasing your bike again

  • @ltc To be honest I was dressed in my best 'Dad' wear and not in black joggers and trackie top with the hoodie up so it was only a polite interaction from them (and fair play actually).
@swampie noted, it was just a new padlock I had in the garage and closest to hand for the photo, I do have an old one somewhere with the closed shackle which will do a better job.

  • Good to see you got it back bro

  • Cockpit theft yesterday opposite Harrods. Hydraulic fluid everywhere, looked liked someone had been stabbed! Nope.

  • Cockpit, forks AND front wheel stolen from London Bridge, Specialized Sirrius Hybrid.

  • Had our Yuba Kombi E5 electric cargo bike stolen from our Asgard locker in the front garden last night.
Have reported it to the police, and it was insured so hopefully will get most of the cost back.

Am pissed off for many reasons, but particularly because they were brazen enough to force their way into the asgard shed at about 12.30 at night while we were home. Which means that now I don’t want to get a new bike and store it there.

We had a knog tracker fitted to it that indicated it was at an address not too far away in Lewisham. Went down there and sure enough found the chain and padlock that had been in the pannier bags abandoned in the driveway of the house.

Didn’t really feel like getting stabbed so didn’t go knocking on any doors, but have updated the police report with that address.

Don’t expect to get it back, but if anyone does see a bright orange Yuba Kombi E5 for sale anywhere please let me know. Only had the bike since December, so don’t even have any photos of it.
