But inevitably then some sort of pentatonic noodle in key of A.
I'm actually going through electric guitar grades now to give my playing structure.
I could never afford it as a nipper and I was always pushed as a kid into capitalism rather than creativity and arts (immigrant things). Also exam attainment helps with my ADD and gives me a sense of progress and learning new things / styles.
But I like to play different styles.

You're doing well, I don't bother learning any new stuff anymore. It made me think of the first thing I do whenever I pick up my acoustic, I'll always strum an open G chord then go into the outro of The Ballad of El Goodo which I segue into this little Chet Atkins style thing in G7 I made up years ago. I do that every single time I pick the Martin up.
What about everyone else? What's the first thing you do when you pick up a guitar? A very Uncle Larry question time type thing. 🙃
