  • I don't think this really impacts on Starmer. It's all a bit technical and not easily summed up.

    Labour on the other hand get to say they passed a motion calling for a ceasefire but the Tories are ignoring it. It's worked out pretty well for them

  • Agree, this doesn't really affect Starmer. The Speaker is the only one who gets the heat.

    Let's not forget, the SNP were using their own motion to try to split Labour.

    Yeah, they were trying to make it about Labour rather than Gaza. While Hoyle let Labour off the hook, he paved the way for Parliament to have what passes for a grown-up debate about the issue rather than partisan point-scoring. I had the radio on for part of what transpired, and it was fucking embarrassing how the SNP shat the bed. Gaza didn't get a mention.
