  • Nice, any pictures? Interested to see the exterior/ interior combo.

Fingers crossed for green on tan

  • Will get some pics up - but will disappoint on that front - portimao blue and black with blue stitching interior

  • Ha! Are you local?

  • What car does this headlight belong to? Friend asked me and I'm stumped!

  • Boring blue (which is actually pretty nice hue irl)

  • Excellent eye, I wasn't even close!

  • That's a great colour, congrats again! Just needs a bike or two up top now đŸ˜‰

  • Downsized from a 5 series?

  • Yeah, seems very similar size wise internally - boot has a bit more wheel arch intrusion but that’s about it.

Bikes will go on the back - as it has the retractable tow bar fitted :)

  • That’s lovely, I much prefer this blue over the previous F3X EB2

  • Skoda problems.... The roomster rear drivers side external door handle has broken, and the child lock is on so it's now permanently shut...

  • If you can pop off the door card I would imagine you can manually pull the cable that goes to the external handle to open. Or fiddle about with the child lock mechanism to release that.

  • Yeah I hope so. Trying to find an exploded diagram for the door at the mo...

  • Did the oil and plugs on my mk6 Golf.

Jacking was tricky. I'd bought Halfords Advanced ones, but they're much higher than I expected and I was using the boot jack. Maybe time to look at a proper one.

The rest was pretty straight forward.

Just a bit of tricky jiggling and yoga with a couple of the coil packs. The plugs definitely needed changing.

  • If you have the space SGS ones are supposedly quite good.

  • Definitely not I'm afraid.

I guess it's not that regular a job, so I can make do with paving slabs and a boot jack.

One bodge I did try which was excellent was using heavy duty packing straps to slide under the coil packs, instead of buying the VAG tool.

Once you get the bend and folds right you can slide them straight under and then lift just as you would with the tool.

A decent tool seems to be £20-30, which obviously isn't much if you're doing a lot. But it sort of added to the overall cost and for something occasional that I'll probably forget where it is, it didn't seem worth it. I know there are cheap tools, but I couldn't be arsed with having it bend or something. Packing straps were saved from our paving delivery for this job.

  • I haven't owned a car for 2 or 3 decades. Engines seem to be at least twice as powerful as they used to be. What's happened? I had a Saab turbo 2 litre which managed 185 PS, which I suppose would be pathetic these days. Can you bung a modern head on a '90s engine and get some modern power?

  • Any SW folk attending the Sunday Startup @ Stalls this Sunday? I grabbed a ticket and will be giving the M2 its first wash under my ownership this week in preparation!

  • Three decades of incremental improvement and a massive increase in processing power in the engine management, plus things like continuously variable valve timing and lift.

  • At guess any of you guys thinking of going to race retro know it has been cancelled due to the site being flooded.

Pity as this year was going to be lancia Audi and group b rallying I believe. Know of a real 037 that was going to be there.
