I was a few episodes in before I even realised it was based off a book. I probably should track the book down. There's a few good "home" references in the TV show. My Aussie life definitely involved fewer drug dealers and prosthetics though.

When Lori moved here from Wood End in the 90s they had drug dealers in the houses either side and another over the road. Erin, her sister, witnessed a murder in the garden next door and had to go to court at a very tender age to testify. Crazy seaside town shit.
I've heard the regions are riddled with meth now, it's fucking everywhere over here.

On the TV show there's one bit where Slim mentions fishing off the jetty at Redcliffe, IIRC he lives in Margate in the book.
