Speaking of bins, our council tax (Islington) no longer covers garden waste collection; it's now an additional £75/year.

Here you have to buy a brown wheelie bin for £42 then pay a discounted annual charge of £30. Alternatively you can buy brown paper sacks at £1.20 each and make a booking on the appropriate day for collection (included in the price). Thankfully I'm under 2 miles to the tip and I can book a visit quite easily now.
