  • That is a better thread title, "sub-optimal commitment to utility".
Di2. So has to be 2by. Sub compact 48/31, 11/42.

  • And now the 'big rubber' arrives

  • The plot thickens.. Aero and mezcals.

  • Road setup is almost complete, still got the light routing to-do. Front light off a small nitto rack, and maybe rear off the lower drop out bracket. Although son recommend the rear light is mounted horizontal.

  • I'm very sorry but I had no other choice than to post this in the anti porn thread

  • Haha. Will you be happy when I blow up the 2.35 650b?

  • Will you also be changing the saddle, handlebars and stem?

    😊

  • Wild bike.

Surely those ratios exceed the rear derailleur capacity? What are the numbers on those rings and cassette?

  • can always appreciate a expert min-max-er, nice bike

  • I'm gonna have to take component by component.

Saddle, brooks b17 narrow. See how it goes. Moving from a smp.
Handlebars, ritchey venturemax, agree rearly don't like them. But what I got.
Stem, red shift, kinda enjoyijng it.

  • The cassette, no. It's the 1x GRX RD. But 2x.

It should have been with a 32/48 chain ring but the AB don't fit the round spider of the power2max.

  • Usually I am not THAT into leather brookses and these kinds of handlebars but this build totally kills it for me 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

  • Forgot about this thread. With the 2.3s the front derailleur doesn't quite work. Next time I'd drop it to 1x when using these.

  • And new build. A rather silly Mr Wooden.

    Frame - green Mr Wooden
Bars - SIM works wild honey, stupidly wide, Newbaum tape
Shifters - Shimano 105 in silver
    Stem - nitto thing
    Headset - Ritchey Classic
Wheels - velo orange voyager rims, son 28 front and Shimano xt m737 rear, 48mm panaracer
Brakes - Dia-Compe DC980 in green and koolstop salmon MTB pads & some blue lug hanger
    Seat post - nitto s65
Saddle - brooks b17, maybe the narrow.
    Crank - Shimano 600
Rest of drivetrain - tbd. Can't decide on single speed or geared. If geared would get some spa super compact.
Racks - front nitto M18 & tubus vega rear
    Mudguards - Berthoud 60mm long
Lights - son edilux front and rear

  • put the power meter cranks on it

  • If only they were silver!

  • Do you put the writing left and right or front and back?

  • Right/left.

    Subbed for the Mr Wooden.

  • Ta. Spa super compact ordered. But they only had black tabs so need to de-anodise. Assume either just wire brush or some striper. Or both?

  • Bits arriving

  • How do you find this handles with these tyres? I’m going to get some for mine

  • Do it. They ride really nice. Only flaw is touch wide for the 2x setup I have.

  • Keep meaning to move it to 700x43s and full mudguards for winter but been lazy.

  • Really nice brakes those 980s, price is hard to beat.

  • A bit of Oven Pride in a Tupperware works well, leave it for 10 mins then agitate gently with an old toothbrush. Works a treat.
