In my typical hording way, when we threw out the cot sides to my youngest's bed, I smashed out all the spindles to keep. You know just in case.
I also kept these big chunky posts from when we ripped out a fence.
after leaving our wellies in the rain by mistake I thought I'd knock up a quick wellie stand.
I tried quickly hand sanding a spindle and unsurprisingly for a children's bed, the paint finish is excellent. I was thinking about painting them black any way, when it occured to me I could speed things up by having a crack at Shou Sugi Ban. As I've got plenty I'm not worried about it going wrong.
Here we are after a quick (20min) sesh in the garden between calls. I ran out of time, so have to have another crack, but thought I'd give them a brush first to see where we are.
