My cats love this Kong brush for stripping the loose fur out then I use a slicker to pick up the loose fur.

Taking our girl to the vets in a bit - still sneezing, breathing a little heavy and has gone off her food. Still think it's just a bout of cat flu but I guess it never hurts to get a professional opinion

Should have called him Whiskers

What’s the update? How’s she doing?

Installed a cat flap today so this old git can let himself in and out when we're not in. He's very displeased that he has to open his own door and is now eyeing every door with suspicion. Not even bribery chicken would get him to go near it.

If you haven’t done so already, get pet insurance immediately. The moment anything is diagnosed, now or in the future, then most insurers won’t open a cover. Must be taken out when you take ownership of the cat and it’s in good health.

We have four weeks sorted and will follow on with cover after that. She came to us in good health and nothing was picked up by Celia Hammond
Anyway, as expected she's got the flu and is on the antibiotics which she doesn't like taking at all. She's perked up a little bit, and is thankfully eating a bit at a time and taking in water. With any luck she's OK by the end of next week

Pepper didn’t come in as usual last night, still not back this morning. Have had a couple of incidents of other cats coming into the house, eating her food, we were just about to sort the microchip cat flap.. also seems like a cat sprayed a little indoors yesterday. Anyway hoping it’s some kind of territorial issue which is in the process of being resolved and she will be back soon, but this is the longest she’s been away so somewhat anxious! We’re in North Edinburgh in case anyone else is based that way!

We think she's slowly on the mend; sneezing has gone down drastically, no discharge from her nose/sniffing things again, she's asking for her food and finally pooped this morning after not going at all since Thursday. However her right eye is a tad squinty/little more gunk (we're occasionally wiping this off with a warm damp cotton pad) than the other so we're calling the vet later to see if it's anything to be concerned about.
Certainly been an up and down 10 days of cat ownership...

Ah great!
In other cat news, our neighbour's car who had been missing for 5 weeks was found yesterday. Somehow she'd got from Walthamstow to Ilford!
Our whole street is celebrating her return.

Jaffa went missing for 24 hours last week and none of the other houses I know he visits locally had spotted him either which is very out of character.
I posted to local lost cat groups on FB and about an hour after I posted, someone else posted to say a "friendly, well-fed cat" had followed them home drunk and looked lost.
He'd wandered over a mile away across busy roads and didn't know his way home, since he was brought back he's been so soppy, must have scared him.
He now has a tracker which is already proving eye-opening to see where he goes!
The funniest thing is that the tracker is like Whoop for cats, it tracks move minutes, calories and sleep - I did not know this when I bought it, I just wanted to see where he is.

I saw one of the local cats in our area outside Bow Church station last week, utterly bewildered how they'd made it without getting into trouble. Turns out they found a way through where the DLR runs, and decide to just walk along that. They've now put a tracker on.
Heard some rustling through the night from downstairs - May has now figured out where the dry food is and was trying to get in at 2am or so. Just relieved her appetite is now back. Eye has improved a little but still a cause for concern, so just waiting for vet to get back to us

Yay, garage or shed explorering

Read that as Jaffa was drunk!
Glad he was found.
I'm intrigued by cat calories and sleep monitor....

Now that is a funny typo.
Wonder if cat 'hitchhiked' in a van or hid in an engine bay
-
• #13349
Ha! Yes I think it would be less surprising to find your missing car in Ilford than a missing cat!

How did your cat get drunk? 😂
No seriously it's very worrying when they go missing. Our smudger now has the same Tractive GPS collar on for our peace of mind
Can confirm, 1 out of 2 of my cats bloody loves smashing his face into one of these repeatedly.
Also tangle teaser hairbrushes. They do a pet one but it's the same as the human one, just without a handle.
